I run near sea level and find my new '02 Savage seems a bit lean but generally runs well enough overall. After I reach 1000 miles of breakin will test full throttle, and once the weather gets warmer will see what occurs then. Carb slide needle position should be the only change necessary--to improve mid-range acceleration and cruising. Altitude may also affect the mix--CV carbs have a vacuum controlled slide. Maybe someone else knows better than I, whether this type carb compensates for altitude. Increased altitude may also mean lower air temps--temp and altitude may be self canceling?? I guess the best test is to drive up a mountain, if you have one. If I sense leaness in hotter weather I plan to remove the white spacer--this raises the needle position slightly. .....Krug
